Ashura observed amid restrictions

SRINAGAR, Nov 4:  Ashura- the 10th day of Muharram marking the martyrdom of grandson of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) was observed across Kashmir valley today with mourners taking out processions at various places.
Authorities put curbs upon the movement of people and traffic in various areas.
The mourning processions were taken from various areas of  Budgam and Srinagar.
Police and CRPF was heavily deployed in Maisuma, Kothibagh, Kralkhud, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal and other areas to prevent movement of people and facilitate Moharram processions in several parts of the city.
Meanwhile, thousands of people took to the streets in the form of mourning procession on the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram in Kargil.
Zuljana and Taazia processions were taken out from the adjoining villages of Kargil town and the processions passing through Main Bazaar Kargil, Islamia School Kargil concluded at Inqlab Manzil and Hussaini Park. The two main organizers of the processions were Anjuman Jamiyat Ullumma Asna Ashriya, Islamic School Kargil(ISK) and Imam Khomenie Memorial Trust Kargil.
At the concluding function of Ashura Ulemas threw light on the importance of the day of Ashura as well as on the philosophy of Karbala.
