Two girl students from Mysuru will represent the district at the State-level Children’s Parliament in Bengaluru on November 11, 12 and 13.

C. Jyothi and Spoorthi Rao will participate in the parliament and interact with the Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs. Jyothi was rescued by the Dwani Mahila Okoota 10 years ago and took shelter in the rehabilitation centre run by the Rural Literacy and Health Programme here. A grade 9 student at JSS High School, Jyothi is a member of the Meena Club at her school, said a release. A student of Class 10 at Gangotri Vidyashala in Bogadi, Spoorthi is a talented student besides being an active debater and sportsperson.

The two students were selected among 50 children who took part in the district-level Children’s Parliament organised by Baduku Trust and others. The problems faced by children and those that need to be discussed by elected representatives in the Legislative Assembly and Council were discussed with the children at the district-level. The two students will prepare a list of problems faced by children and submit it to the elected representatives for raising them in the upcoming session. This was the objective behind holding the Children’s Parliament, the release said.
