'Had someone acted earlier, he would be alive'
CHANDIGARH: Bhupinder Singh Saini, 48, of Sector 12, Panchkula, showed the way in helping road accident victims. Saini, who was in his luxury car, had lifted injured Surinder to GMCH-32 in his car without waiting for the police Gypsy and did his best to save the injured. Though Surinder succumbed to his injuries, Saini still feels that if someone would have taken the injured to a hospital a bit earlier, Surinder might be alive today.
Talking to TOI, Bhupinder, who runs a factory at Industrial Area, Phase I, said, "I was going to my house from the new link road when I spotted the injured man lying on the road and surrounded by several passers-by. I made a call at police control room but realized that it would be too late if we wait for the police ambulance. I decided to rush the injured to GMCH-32 in my car." Meanwhile, two software engineers also came forward to assist Saini and accompanied the injured till GMCH-32.
Bhupinder said the risk of road accidents on the new link road has increased after it had widened as people drove at a fast pace. He said two-wheeler riders and pedestrians were among the maximum number of victims of accidents.
