There's hot, and then there's too hot — at least when it comes to the movie adaptation of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel. While the book may have steamed up many a morning commute for readers, fans should be on alert that the movie version will have exactly zero full-frontal nudity shots of Mr. Christian Grey.
"There were contracts in place that said viewers wouldn't be seeing my, um.... Yeah, my todger," Dornan told The Guardian in an article that published Sunday. The Irish actor continued, "You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don't want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic."
Well, that's a rather harsh judgment; the (very brief) revelation of Ben Affleck's todger in "Gone Girl" recently has been a subject of admiration and discussion. But Dornan knows best, and audiences won't get to judge for themselves.
That's as it ought to be, noted Kathie Lee Gifford on TODAY Monday morning. "You're going to have to use your imagination," she said. "Leave a little to the brain-aroo."
