YEREVAN. – The British business interests in Armenia have grown in recent times.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated the abovementioned at Monday’s joint news conference with David Lidington, the Minister for Europe at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Nalbandian stated that the political discourse and economic ties have invigorated between the two parties.

“Today [, Monday,] we discussed several matters on bilateral relations, [and] their strengthening and development,” the Armenian minister noted.

Nalbandian added that the legal and contractual framework needs to be strengthened, and he pointed to the active contacts between the parliaments of the two countries.

The Armenian FM also informed that he briefed the British minister on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, and the results of the recent Paris meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In addition the interlocutors had reflected on the present-day situation in Syria and Iraq, the importance of combining the international community efforts in the fight against terrorism, and they also discussed the talks on the Iranian nuclear program.

David Lidington, for his part, stated that this is his second visit to Armenia as minister and this, in his words, bespeaks the fact that bilateral relations are strengthening. The UK minister also stressed that he stands ready to discuss the development of political and economic relations with the Armenian party.
