Fire in Palghar oil factory, two injured
Ahuge fire broke out in an industrial oil and grease manufacturing unit in Palghar on Sunday, injuring two factory workers. The incident happened at Anand Engineering Private Limited, located in the Genesis Industrial Estate in Kolgaon. The workers, who suffered hand injuries, have been admitted to a private hospital.
The fire was reported late on Sunday afternoon. Even as fifty workers present inside the factory managed to escape, two men remained stuck amidst the flames. They were later rescued and taken to the hospital. The entire unit was destroyed in the fire. Fire Brigade was called in from Palghar and Boisar. The falmes were extinguished at around 6 pm, said PSI Pratap Bhos, Palghar police station. The entire unit was destroyed in the fire.
“The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. We are waiting for a report from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), Vasai. Only then we might register a case against those responsible. As of now, we have registered a case of accident”, he said.
