You can cure or heal yourself of almost anything, so long as you want to, says healer KAITY CAMA to REENA SINGH

You are an energy healer. Are people receptive to such forms of healing?

There are different modes of healing, and when people are ready to receive healing, they are open to it. For example, when a mother forces her son to accept healing to stop being hostile, then if the boy does not want the healing, then we cannot even venture to give it because it is going against the free will of that human being.

What if the child is young and doesn’t know any better?

If we get to know that someone is ill and we don’t even know the person, except his name, then it is possible to send distance healing to him. But when the person doesn’t want it, then it will not touch him.

There are certain markers in life when we can die and when it is possible not to die. If the spirit knows that there is no further evolution in this particular life, the spirit will leave. By the third stage of cancer, people are almost on the point of giving up. By the fourth stage, they have given up. At that time, it is almost impossible to work. Only a miracle from God can save them.

Yet there have been recorded cases of people doing meditation, right at the end,  just as something to try out and that works.

Yes, that will work, if the person wants it, most definitely, it will work.

Who are the people who go to energy healers?

What one decides depends on the consciousness of a person. Someone’s consciousness is for homoeopathy because it has worked for their family. Some people will go only for ayurveda and some will go only for allopathy, particularly, if they come from a family of doctors. Some will go for both, including energy medicine as it is proving to be very successful. In natural vibration healing, I rearrange the energy. A particular organ, because of the pattern of the healee’s thinking, may change its vibrations. I try to bring that organ back to its normal frequency, and I also guide that person by telling them how to change their thought patterns.

Take the case of women who have problems in their relationship with their partners. Later in life, they tend to develop problems in their lower abdomen, particularly in the reproductive system. They have a thought pattern that is so fixed that it might take clinical hypnotherapy to change their thinking.

The words of the therapist go into the subconscious mind of the healee to root out old patterns and to put new hopeful thinking patterns. The healee has to cooperate in the healing; otherwise, healing takes a very long time.

In pranic healing, when we sweep out the person’s energy field, for a short time, the person feels better. But if the person continues to think in the same pattern, the same ailment will recur.

Then, there are karmic carryovers. A child may be born deaf or born blind. These can also be healed, but it needs the child to grow up and understand — and then there can be a healing.

Nothing is impossible. Because the universe is a field of infinite possibilities — it doesn’t leave anything out. Suppose I prefer a certain kind of healing, but the patient wants reiki healing, then I am compelled to send only reiki; but if they leave it to me, then I can choose what is best for them.

In a typical healing session, what is a healee supposed to do to facilitate healing?

They are supposed to follow certain universal laws — not to harbour resentment or grudges against people; no gossiping about people negatively — even things like ‘my sister-in-law gets gold bangles, but my husband doesn’t get them for me,’ or ‘my neighbours have a new car, but where did they get the money to buy it’ — this is what people normally do.

Instead, try to extend compassionate and kind thoughts to all people and to creation, even to plants and animals. People walk past a tree with a stick in their hands and they hit the tree and move on — even such things shouldn’t be done.

What is the role of music and books in healing?

There are different types of music that enhance and hasten healing. Reading inspirational books helps healing because it focuses a person’s eye on inspirational things. While they are reading and absorbing an inspirational book, they are focusing on positive things, not thinking negatively. Inspirational books such as short stories about good people, spiritual reading, or anything that uplifts the spirit is great. Avoid books and films about conflict, manipulation and negative things, even if these are award-winning works. Reading such things becomes a form of social conditioning for a person, for we are always imbibing things from the environment.

What kind of music should one listen to?

Let’s say a person is medically fit, yet is always lazy and lethargic — when such a person listens to fast-moving, high-pitched music, where the tone and sound is higher and faster, it engenders better circulation and activity within such a person. Similarly, if a person wants to sleep, but sleep evades him, then listening to slow music in a lower pitch helps. Classical music always helps.

Listen to different types of music that is in keeping with the cycles of the universe — earth cycle and lunar cycle.

Are you talking of Indian ragas?

You can choose ragas or western classical music. There are ragas made for different times of the day. Tansen could sing a song and melt a stone. But now unfortunately, all that ancient knowledge has been lost to us. There is Malhar raga, and there were other ragas to create fire or to bring rain. The ragas are now not in perfection as they were in the older days.

What do you think of Sufi music?

I have even written Urdu lyrics for Rangreza — an album of Sufi music that blends verses with English. It was my intention, that if people take to listening to such music, they will change. The change would be slow — to be able to love the universe and to become more spiritual. If one becomes so, automatically, there would be more peace in the universe. I am now working with the composer on bringing out another genre of a Sufi album, but this time, I am experimenting with different kind of lyrics.

What about love songs?

If a person is spiritual, he will listen to a love song and think of God. If he is enmeshed in materiality, he will listen to the same song and will think of a girlfriend or boyfriend. Even Choli ke peeche kya hai can be perceived as spiritual. What is behind the choli or body? The heart! And within the heart is love for God. It all depends on a person’s consciousness, and how he looks at something.
