Samarth Vyas's 133 lifts Saurashtra

Samarth Vyas scored a magnificent 133 and put on 193 runs for the third wicket with Jyotir Singh (74) as Saurashtra batted themselves to a position of safety on Day One of their Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 match against Tripura being played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Khandheri near Rajkot on Saturday.

AHMEDABAD: Samarth Vyas scored a magnificent 133 and put on 193 runs for the third wicket with Jyotir Singh (74) as Saurashtra batted themselves to a position of safety on Day One of their Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 match against Tripura being played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Khandheri near Rajkot on Saturday.
Saurashtra won the toss and elected to bat but soon found themselves in trouble losing two wickets for just 16 runs on the board.
But once Vyas and Singh got together the home team started dominating and went on to post 272 runs for the loss of six wickets when stumps were drawn for the day.
Himanshu Sharma and Brijesh Lakadiya were the two not out batsmen at close with individual scores of 45 and four respectively.
The visitors tried nine different bowlers but couldn't dislodge the Vyas-Singh partnership. Vyas dominated the proceedings from the word go with some beautiful strokes all around the ground. He hit 21 boundaries during the course of his innings.
Murasingh was the most successful bowler for Tripura picking two wickets.
