VADODARA: MS University's Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (BSM) will host a one-day national seminar on 'Sanskrit literature of 21st century' on November 26.
The seminar will include paper presentations, debates, inaugural lectures and discussions on modern Sanskrit literature created between 2000 and 2014.
"The seminar is being held for the first time in the country. The evolution of modern Sanskrit literature is the core focus of the seminar.
Modern Sanskrit scholars have contributed to literature in varied forms that include short stories, drama, poetry, sonnets, ghazals and autobiographies. We will hold discussions and debates on contemporary modern literature," said BSM's principal professor Rabindra Panda.
The participants will undertake a critical analysis of works in Sanskrit literature during the last 14 years wherein they will study and review various works by scholars, poets and authors.
Experts from different subjects in Sanskrit literature will also share insights on various epics that include Ramayana, Mahabharata and biographical poems.
Over 250 students, researchers, experts, writers and teaching faculties from Bhopal, Ujjain, Orissa, Pune, Mumbai and various cities in Gujarat are expected to participate in the event.
"We are hopeful that the conclusions will play a vital role in a better understanding of literature and encourage more students to pursue the subject," added Panda.
