VADODARA: A 65-year-old man was killed in a road accident on
Akota-Dandia Bazaar Bridge on Friday night. Firoz Patni, who was with his family, was trying to cross the bridge on the
Dandia Bazaar side when a speeding car hit him.
Patni was a resident of Jasood Mohalla in Baranpura area of the old city. Patni was flung nearly 15 feet in the air due to the collision.
His head smashed on a light pole and he died of severe head injuries and multiple fractures.
Parth Patel (20), a resident of Subhanpura area, was driving the car that hit Patni.
Patel was pulled out of his car by onlookers after the accident and thrashed.
"The man was trying to cross the road to attend nature's call when he was hit by the car.
The car driver has been identified and is currently undergoing treatment at Bhailal Amin Hospital after he was beaten up by locals," said Raopura police sub-inspector, B M Vasava.
