Juvenile in Dongri kids home custody goes missing from JJ Hospital

The officer added that the juvenile had made an earlier unsuccessful attempt to escape at 2.30 am, but was stopped by the guard.

A 17-year-old juvenile in conflict with law went missing from J J hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.  The juvenile had been in the custody of the Dongri Children’s Home after he was detained by the D N Nagar police last month. He had taken ill a few days ago, following which he was admitted to the J J Hospital.

“He was suffering from lower limb paralysis and was being given potassium supplements. At 3.30 am, he was found missing by the security guard of ward 12, who then informed the police,” said an officer from J J Marg police station.

The officer added that the juvenile had made an earlier unsuccessful attempt to escape at 2.30 am, but was stopped by the guard.

“An hour later, however, the guards could not find him. We were informed at 5 am. We have made a record of the incident and are looking for him on the hospital premises,” said Anil Madvi, senior inspector, J J Marg police station.

He added that a report would be submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board as the juvenile could not be charged further with escape.
