30 achievers will get district Rajyotsava award

MANGALURU: As many as 30 achievers from Dakshina Kannada district will be honoured with 'Jilla Rajyotsava Prashasti' on at Nehru Maidan in the city on Saturday.
Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu announced the list on the eve of Rajyotsava on Friday.Kalkura said that award winning achievers will be honoured by district minister B Ramanath Rai in the presence of ministers UT Khader, K Abhaychandra Jain, MLCs Ganesh Karnik, Ivan D'Souza, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, zilla panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda, MLAs S Angara, K Vasantha Bangera, Shakunthala T Shetty, JR Lobo, BA Mohiuddeen Bava, Mayor Mahabala Marla and deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim.
A procession will be taken out from Jyothi Circle to the programme venue at Nehru Maidan at 7.45am and minister Rai will hoist the state flag at 9am. Achievers will be honoured by ministers and dignitaries at 9.35am, Kalkura said, adding that various cultural programmes will also be held as part of celebrations. Meanwhile, cultural programmes for children will be held at Jogi Samaj Hall near Kadri Park from 3pm.
