Gang held for kidnapping naturopathy doctor

COIMBATORE: A six member gang was arrested for kidnapping a naturopathy doctor and detaining him at a lodge at Ganapathy on Thursday over a financial dispute. The city police rescued the victim from the gang.
The arrested gang members have been identified as P Sivaraj, 29, S Maheshkumar, 28, both hailing from Uppilipalayam, K Ramesh, 33, from Gandhi Maa Nagar, D Silambarasan, 28, from Varadharajapuram, E Vigneshkumar, 29, from New Siddhapudur and D Anandakumar, 32, from Gandhi Maa Nagar.
Police said, Siva, Ramesh and Silambarasan had completed diploma courses. Maheshkumar completed his MBA. Vigneshkumar and Anandakumar completed their under graduate degrees. All of them were mechanics at an air conditioning manufacturing unit.
Police said, the six of them had given Rs3lakh to one Ajith from Saibaba Colony for a temple kalasam. However, Ajith failed to hand over the kalasam. Neither did he return their money. Thus, the gang kidnapped him a few days ago and forced him to return the money. Ajith had turned to his friend Sunny from Theni to return the amount. Sunny promised the gang that he would arrange for the money.

Sunny, his friends M Anil Mathew, a naturopathy doctor from Ernakulam and their associate Vigneshkumar went to the lodge and managed to rescue Ajith.
Meanwhile, the gang came to know that Anil Mathew was staying in a lodge at Gandhipuram. On October 29, the gang allegedly kidnapped him and kept him at a lodge in Ganapthy. Anil phoned his friends to rescue him after paying the money owed.

His friends Contacted Saibaba Colony police inspector Salairam Sakthivel who rushed to the spot along with his team and arrested the gang and rescued Anil Mathew. The accused have been lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison.
