The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) staged a rally at Chowk Qanwan against the death sentence to the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Chief Mutiur Rehman Nizami by a so-called Bangladeshi tribunal.
A large number of people attended the protest held under the leadership of JI District President Rana Umer Daraz Farooqi. They raised posters and placards inscribed with the demands for declaring the punishments of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladeshi leader as defunct. They also chanted slogans against the Bangladeshi government.
Addressing the participants, JI District President said that the government of Sheikh Hasina Wajid was following the policies of India and the US in Bangladesh.
He further said that those patriotic leaders who had rendered their services to keep intact Pakistan as one, were being punished after 40 years by so-called tribunals and courts by making baseless cases.
Ran Umer further said that the Awami League by using unfair means had once again come into power to fulfil the agenda of India and America and death sentenced to 70-year-old Mutiur Rehman was a part of the agenda.  He urged the government to take care of the sentiments and emotions of the people and stop following the agenda of India and America.
“The government should refrain itself by giving Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India, as it will tantamount to disregard the sacrifices of Kashmiris people,” he warned.
