Allahabad ex-mayor dies in car crash on Yamuna Expressway

Former mayor of Allahabad, Ravi Bhushan Wadhwan, died in a road accident when his Toyota Fortuner rammed a stationary truck on the Yamuna Expressway early Friday morning.His driver, Puran, suffered severe injuries.

NOIDA: Former mayor of Allahabad, Ravi Bhushan Wadhwan, died in a road accident when his Toyota Fortuner rammed a stationary truck on the Yamuna Expressway early Friday morning. His driver, Puran, suffered severe injuries.
The accident occurred around 5.30am in Robupura, about 24km away from zero point in Greater Noida. Wadhwan was on his way to Allahabad from Delhi for some personal work.
"When the vehicle reached Robupura, the driver could not spot the stationary truck on the road. As the car was speeding he could not apply the breaks in time and rammed into the truck," said Anil Kumar, SHO, Rabupura police station. According to police, 55-year-old Doctors said Wadhwan died of severe head injuries and Puran has been admitted in the ICU where he is recuperating.
Police said both the car and the truck have been seized and Wadhwan's body sent for postmortem. The families of both persons have been informed. "We will register a case once we receive a written complaint from the family. The truck driver who had parked his vehicle on the expressway had fled from the spot. We are trying to identify him to take action against him," said an officer.
