Film review: Pretentious Hinglish flick 'Fireflies' starring Rahul Khanna fails to pack a punch

Film: Fireflies

Director: Sabal Singh Shekhawat

Cast: Rahul Khanna, Arjun Mathur, Monica Dogra, Shivani Ghai, Aadya Bedi

Rating: *1/2

What's it about: Two brothers - Shiv and Rana - have fallen out because of something that happened in their past. Each follows a different path to get to where they are. Each has their share of heartaches and heartbreaks before they resolve their conflict.

What's hot: The music. The cinematography. The supporting cast.

What's not: This has to be one of the most pretentious Hinglish films I've seen in recent times. And it really isn't the cast's fault. Dogra and Mathur in particular, impress, but they all seem crippled by the blanks and holes in the script. Why does their sister make an appearance way after you've stopped giving a damn?

What to do: It looks good. But it doesn't really keep you interested in the goings-on. You couldn't care less about any of the characters. And that's always a bad sign.
