Rihanna, Miley, Gwyneth And Other Celebrities At The AMFAR Los Angeles Gala

This article is more than 9 years old.

Given that the honoree at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles was the designer Tom Ford, it was only fitting that many of the celebrities who showed up for the A-list event donned threads by the designer. And the location being in Los Angeles, home of Hollywood, the star wattage — and the show of skin — was in abundance led by fashion renegade Rihanna.

The pop star wore a negligee-like dress from Tom Ford that had side cut-outs, a key hole in the midriff, sheer breast cups accented by floral appliques, a low back, and a skirt with a very high slit. It was a very risqué outfit that exposed a lot of skin – a territory that is not unfamiliar with Rihanna.

But Miley Cyrus one-upped her in the show-me-some-skin arena with her outfit that featured a black skirt, which from a far looked like it was being held together by a criss-cross of duct tape on the bodice. Upon closer inspection, the duct tape work is actually made of bands of intricate woven leather over a nude illusion top. It was also designed by Tom Ford.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who has long been a fan of the honored designer, also wore Tom Ford but she went for a sartorially modest route. She wore a tailored black tuxedo with small side cut outs.

Other celebrities in attendance were Alessandra Ambrosio in a python skin and sheer number from Zuhair Murad, Dita Von Teese in a cinched silk aubergine dress from Ulyana Sergeenko Couture and Lea Michelle in glittery tank dress from Versace.
