Jammu and Kashmir BJP hails PM Narendra Modi's package for 1984 riot victims

    Synopsis

"Now, with Modi coming forward to wipe out tears of Sikhs, the aggrieved community is expecting expeditious and fair trial," he added.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP today welcomed the relief package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 1984 riot victims, saying the hope of justice has now arisen.
"We hail the Prime Minister's package for 1984 riot victims. The hope of justice has now arisen as PM seems serious and committed to share the pain and sufferings of the Sikh families who have been running from pillar to post for the last 30 years to get justice, but all in vain," JK BJP Convenor and former IGP, Sardar S S Bijral told reporters here today.

The killings were globally condemned but the most tragic part of the riots which keeps hurting Sikhs is that till date no concrete steps has been taken to bring the culprits to book, Bijral alleged.

"Numerous Commissions were constituted to provide just lip service as justice was delayed," he said.

"Now, with Modi coming forward to wipe out tears of Sikhs, the aggrieved community is expecting expeditious and fair trial," he added.
