Gal Gadot 'passes on Ben-Hur film'

Gal Gadot had to turn down a part in the Ben-Hur remake, according to reports

Gal Gadot has reportedly turned down a part in the Ben-Hur remake because she is too busy working on her Wonder Woman role.

The Israeli actress was said to be in talks for the female lead of Esther in director Timur Bekmambetov's reboot of the classic 1959 movie, which will star Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman.

However, The Wrap reported that she had to pass on the project because there was a scheduling conflict with her eagerly awaited film Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

The new take on Ben-Hur will arrive in cinemas in February 2016, while Dawn Of Justice will be released a month later.

Wonder Woman is also getting a standalone movie, to be released in 2017, and there are rumours it could actually be the first of a trilogy about the character.

Bleeding Cool claims the standalone film will be set in the 1920s, and that it paves the way for two sequels, one set during World War II and the third instalment in the modern day.
