MYSORE: Behaviour is not a result of internal changes in the mind and mainly controlled by the environment, said Radhika Poovayya, a speech language pathologist.
She was addressing special educators and parents of children affected with communication disorders at a two-day seminar on "Bringing Applied Behaviour Analysis to Home, School and Play" at AIISH Auditorium on Thursday.
She said that if one dealt with somebody well, it implies that one has used the principles of behaviour well.
Asha Yathiraj, in-charge director, department of special education, advised participants to ignore negative behaviour in children.
"If you don’t react to negativity, it will reduce," she said. Methods applied to one child may not be work with others. Sometimes variation in hormones also results in changing behaviour, she said.
