VARANASI: A youth was murdered in Ghazipur, while a teacher was seriously injured in an axe attack in Jaunpur on Thursday.
According to reports, Anshu Singh (35) of Ghariha village under the Mardah police station in Ghazipur district had gone to attend a religious programme on Wednesday night. He returned late in the night and went to sleep on a cot outside his house.

On Thursday morning, his body was found lying in a pool of blood. A slipper and axe used in the murder were found at the crime site. Anshu’s younger brother Anshu was missing after the incident. Police suspect that Anshu was killed by his brother over some dispute. The body was later sent for postmortem.
Meanwhile, in Jaunpur, Vipin Mishra (30) of Madiyahu, who worked as teacher at a computer institute in Vajidpur, was attacked by a miscreant at Jacee Crossing. The unidentified miscreant attacked him with an axe and escaped from the scene. Though a police picket, comprising six constables, was deployed at the crossing, none of the cop tried to chase the assailant. A seriously injured Vipin was rushed to the district hospital from where he was referred to SSL Hospital of BHU in Varanasi.
