Home Minister K.J. George on Thursday said the BJP was hatching a conspiracy to dislodge him from the Siddaramaiah Ministry as he was preventing the party (BJP) from implementing its “hidden agenda” in the State.
Mr. George, who held a meeting with top police officials, told presspersons that BJP leaders had made several efforts to implement its “hidden agenda” in Chikmagalur, Mangalore, Yadgir and Bijapur and Sira in Tumkur and thereby, attempted to disturb communal harmony and peace in the State. But, the police had taken stern action against all anti-social elements to ensure peace.
On Wednesday, the BJP submitted a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala alleging “a deteriorating situation in all aspects of governance” and demanded that he “take cognisance of it”. It asked the Governor to “take necessary steps under the constitutional guidelines to bring the administration on the right track”.
“I will give a full explanation to the Governor if he (Governor) seeks it on law and order in the State,” Mr. George said and maintained that the BJP’s allegations against him were politically motivated and baseless. The government and the police acted against moral policing in Mangalore and other parts of the state, he said.
