A rape case registered against film producer and realtor Govardhan Murthy by a Mumbai-based girl in Bellary district has been transferred to Ashoknagar police station in the city. The girl in her complaint had stated that she was working in a bar on Residency Road in the city.
In September, Murthy reportedly went there and took her along with him to his farmhouse and allegedly raped her. Based on the girl's complaint, the Cowl Bazar police in Bellary had registered a complaint and transferred it to Ashok Nagar police station, said SandeepPatil, deputy commissioner of police (central).

The girl, speaking to media at a press conference, said the owner and employees of the bar used to force her to accompany Murthy after every time he visited the bar. When she protested the move, the employees of the bar threatened her saying if she didn't go to him, he would kill her with his gun. She said last took her to his farmhouse on October, 2, 2014, which was the fourth time.
The girl contacted an NGO working for the welfare of women through her friend and with their help she lodged a complaint in Bellary.
