Mayawati slams Narendra Modi’s Swachhta ‘naatak’

The BSP chief said the BJP was a party of “traders and dhan seths or wealthy people”, which was going back on its promise of bringing black money from abroad.

She also criticised the decision to deregulate the price of diesel, which she said would raise prices and prove to be “anti-people” and “anti-farmer”.

The BSP described the meeting as “important”. All senior state office-bearers except those from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand, participated to recommit to expanding the party’s base in “sarvasamaj” and to strengthening its organisation.

“The government at the Centre… has set a record of working exclusively for big industrialists and dhan seths. The non-fulfilment of their promises of alleviating unemployment, reducing prices, building pucca houses and providing electricity have left crores of poor, depressed, farmers, Dalit and poor upper-castes disappointed…,” she said.

However, Mayawati said, the BJP had won in Haryana and Maharashtra because “despite disappointment, people appear to be in a mood to give a little more time to (them) to fulfil its promises”.
