Within a week's time, escalators at the Mumbai Monorail stations between Wadala Depot and Chembur will be ready for public use.
"The installation work is underway at the seven monorail stations. The authorities need to ensure that commuters face no difficulties while the work is on," said an official.
Dilip Kawathkar, spokesperson of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said, "The work is almost done. We plan to make it functional for people by November first week."

Earlier the MMRDA had planned to make escalators operational by June, however, the same was revised to October.
The first phase of the Mumbai Monorail project, which stretches over 8.8km, have seven stations dotting it — Chembur, VN Purav Marg, Fertiliser Colony, Bharat Petroleum, Mysore Colony, Bhakti Park and Wadala.

At each of the stations, four escalators will be put up. Two of these will be at the ground level to the concourse while two more will be from the concourse to the platforms. Therefore, the seven stations will have a total of 28 escalators.

Currently, construction of second phase Mumbai Monorail is underway between Wadala Depot and Jacob Circle (Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk). This 10.24 km is scheduled for completion only by December 2015 and it will have 10 stations, namely, Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk (Jacob Circle), Currey Road, Mint Colony, Ambedkar Nagar, Naigaon, Dadar East, Wadala Bridge, Acharya Atre Nagar, Antop Hill and Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar.
