Abe, opposition trade barbs over money scandals

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe tried to steer a parliamentary debate Thursday toward policy issues, but opposition lawmakers still found opportunities to sideswipe him for cabinet members' campaign finance irregularities.

     Thursday's meeting of the lower house budget committee turned into the first real clash between Abe and the opposition since two newly appointed members of his cabinet resigned earlier this month.
