VADODARA: The opposition leader in the
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Chandrakant Shrivastava has demanded that the
Rajiv Gandhi Swimming Pool on the Waghodiya Road should be maintained properly after it is handed over to the
Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG).
Shrivastava said that the civic body was considering handing over the pool to SAG for administration, maintenance, renovation and operations. Shrivastava said that while doing this, it was important to ensure that the filtration plant at the swimming pool was replaced.
He insisted that chlorination of water at the pool was also conducted regularly.
Shrivastava said that the need of ladies and gents coaches according to the strength of those using the pool should be employed. He added that the VMC should also clarify on the income it was making from the swimming pool. The standing committee off the VMC had recently cleared a proposal for handing over the pool to SAG and forwarded it to the general board for a final nod.
