ESPN NFL analyst and former Pro Bowl offensive lineman Damien Woody returned to the network Thursday for the first time since June. He looks a little different.

The 36-year-old Woody, who retired from the NFL in 2010 after a 12-year career, had ballooned to 388 pounds last spring, a good 60 pounds over his already hefty playing weight. After getting the opportunity to go on the NBC reality show The Biggest Loser, Woody seized the opportunity.

Woody told For The Win in September that he was inspired by his former Jets head coach Rex Ryan’s decision to confront his own weight problem through lap band surgery.

“The one thing about Coach Ryan was he struggled with it for a long time and he always felt like that was the one thing that always hindered him from being a head coach for awhile so he knew it was something he had to tackle, he had to deal with and he did,” Woody told For The Win. “He’s done a tremendous job and I feel like you know conquering this battle would just do so much for my psyche – not only my physical well-being but mentally put me in a different place.”

After four months away from ESPN, Woody is back looking significantly slimmer than he was when he left.

He won’t disclose his current weight just yet – they’re saving that for when it airs on The Biggest Loser –  but he did talk about the experience on a podcast for ESPN’s Front Row site.
