PRINCETON, Ind.

Written at a third grade reading level, the new book "Adventures with Ethan: Freddy the Frog" (published by AuthorHouse) by authors Dr. Carolyn R. Cochren and Ethan Cochren is the story of a young boy's adventures in the woods near his home with a talking frog who becomes his friend.

Carolyn Cochren was inspired by stories told to her by her then 6-year-old grandson, Ethan Cochren, who epitomizes the title character. Ethan Cochren is now 12 years old.

"Adventures with Ethan" comes alive through the eyes and voice of a 6-year-old boy named Ethan. He explores the world of nature and encounters a talking frog. Ethan wonders if the events with the frog really happen or if he just dreams and remembers to tell his Nana about them.

Though colorful illustrations do grace the pages of "Adventures with Ethan," it is not a picture book with one-line sentences but rather a storybook that may be used to help young children learn to read.

"Many states require children to pass a third grade reading test in order to move on to the fourth grade," Carolyn Cochren says. "Literacy is essential to a successful life and this book can assist children with learning to read."
