Govt urges Ulema to help ensure peace

Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran has urged the Muslim Ummah to be united and follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to meet success in every sphere of life.
He expressed these views while addressing the Ulema Conference held under the auspices of Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) here the other day.
The conference presided over by SCCI President Sohail Anjum Ansari.
He urged the Ulema to shun their sectarian differences in larger national interest and glory of Islam, adding that sectarian harmony and unity among the ranks of the Muslims was the need of the hour, which could help resolved the problems being faced by the Ummah.
"We should make our name in deeds of welfare and charity by keeping in view the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," he added.
MNA Peer Amran Shah, Former SCCI President Ch Arshad Hussain and Ch Muhammad Hussain Zahid and leaders of Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen included Syed Zia Ullah Shah Bukhari, Sh Ijaz Ahmad Raza also addressed the conference.
MAN SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead while sleeping in a street in Dera Rahim Police limits late Tuesday. The resident of Chak 139/9-L was stated to have been in relationship with the murderer's relative. The dead is named as Shabbir Hussain and the killer as Riaz. Police have registered the case and investigating.
Meanwhile, Muzaffargarh DPO Rai Zameerul Haq said that it was the moral and religious duty of every Muslim to invest his energy and strive for maintaining harmony and peace by shunning petty differences, especially in the month of Muharramul Haram.
All traditional license-holders' processions and Majalis of Muharram will be held accordingly but it will be the bounden duty of the organisers to inform the administration prior any such event.
DPO Rai Zameerul Haq stated this while addressing a meeting here on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by members of the peace committee, Anjuman-e-license-holders of Tazia and Zuljinah, members of CPLC, journalists, District Bar Association President and all SDPOs of the district.
The DPO described that a code of conducted had been issued for all participants of processions and mourners. He emphasised on the organisers to arrange Majalis and procession walled areas keeping in view the prevailing security situation.
He pointed out that unfair use of loudspeakers was strictly banned and violators would be dealt strictly. "No one will be allowed to hurt peace and police are making all-out efforts to provide security to people," he elaborated, adding that cooperation of all schools of thought was of prime importance to thwart any attempt aimed at disturbing peace.
He appealed to Ulema to avoid furious speeches and preach tolerance and patience to promote harmony, brotherhood, unity and peace.
The DPO declared that a ban had been imposed on distribution of objectionable printed material and playing of cassettes or CDs containing hatred speeches. He directed officials concerned to carry out survey of routes of Muharram processions and hold meeting with the organizers. The DPO informed that 464 mourning processions would be taken out throughout the district out of which 184 processions were license-holders while 280 processions were traditional.
