The protest against the failure to arrest the accused for brutal murder of three members of Dalit family in Ahmednagar has reached the city with various political parties and social organizations coming on streets to condemn the incident and delay in bringing the accused to books.
The incident took place at Avkhed Khalsa village in Pathardi taluka of Ahmednagar district on October 21. However, there has been no breakthrough in the case. The villagers had observed a bandh on Wednesday while alleging harassment of residents by police.
On October 21 afternoon, bodies of Sanjay Jagganath Jadhav (42), wife Jayshree (38) and son Sunil (19) were found in a well half-a-kilometre from their residence in Wagh Vasti in Javkhed Khalsa.
The bodies of Sanjay and Sunil were found hacked to pieces.
A murder case was registered against unidentified persons at Pathardi police station and police have invoked sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, against unidentified persons.

In the city, few organizations staged a rasta roko on Wednesday at Mangalwar Peth. The Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh took out a candle march at Ghorpadi. The Republican Party of India, Patit Pawan Sanghatana, and NCP activists agitated in Jaybhavaninagar demanding severe punishment to those responsible for crime against dalits.
The agitators have decided to intensify their protest if the culprits are not arrested by police.
