Janma Bhoomi venue turns battlefield

Political parties using Janma Bhoomi programme to settle scores

Nellore: Janma Bhoomi programmes are slowly turning as battle grounds for different political parties in Nellore.

After a brawl between BJP and YSRC men on Tuesday, it was the turn of TD and YSR Congress workers to quarrel at a Janma Bhoomi venue in 54th division at Nellore on Wednesday in the presence of Nellore city legislator Anilkumar Yadav and Mayor Abdul Azeez.

Trouble started when Mr Anilkumar Yadav, while highlighting his loyalty to YSR Congress and its chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, indirectly took a dig at Mr Azeez for migrating to the Telugu Desam after being elected Mayor of Nellore Corporation with YSRC support.

“Unlike some people who left the party to enjoy power, I am not going to leave the party under any circumstances,” Mr Anil said.

The situation went haywire when a TD corporator Balakoteswar Rao objected to Mr Anilkumar’s remark.

YSRC corporator Roopkumar Yadav and some of his followers rushed towards TD men and the other group also joined the brawl.

Confusion prevailed for a while with every one shouting at the top of their voice.

Situation came to normal when Mr Anilkumar Yadav left the venue after the incident.

Mayor Abdul Azeez, who attempted to silence his party men along wi-th another party leader Anam Venkataramana Reddy, criticised Mr Anilkumar Yadav without mentioning his name.

He said that some people have remained in the party (YSRC) because they did not get any opportunity to migrate. He justified his departure from YSRC claiming that his intention was to serve the people.
