Govt shunts two people-friendly bureaucrats
MYSORE/KOLAR: Two bureaucrats who fought against corruption and gained the support of people, have been shunted out by the state government from their present postings.
Administrative Training Institute (ATI) director-general Rashmi V Mahesh, who was attacked by some of her staff recently, has been given the marching orders as regional commissioner of Mysore division.
She was holding additional charge of the post.
On Tuesday, the government gave Chamarajanagar deputy commissioner A M Kunjappa, additional charge of regional commissioner. Rashmi was in news for the attack after she submitted a report alleging misappropriation of Rs 100 crore funds in ATI by her predecessors.
The other bureaucrat to be transferred on Wednesday was Kolar deputy commissioner D K Ravi. People of Kolar, including politicians cutting across party lines, had staged a dharna on October 20 when there were reports that he would be transferred.
Though Ravi himself had sought a transfer, the local people want him to continue and observe a bandh on Thursday.
Ravi was active in demolishing encroachments and had irked a couple of bigwigs after he recovered land meant for golf course.
