An explosion in a tea shop at Bangad Dharamshala near Madhwapur under the Kydganj police station on Wednesday morning turned into a major puzzle for the police. Till the filing of the report, the bomb disposal squad and forensic experts were struggling to ascertain the nature and cause of the explosion that left a labourer injured and damaged three adjacent houses.
SP, city, Rajesh Kumar Yadav shared the dilemma of cops, “an explosion has three tell tale signs – burning, smoke and pit. However, all these signs are missing at the site of the explosion. Even the two domestic LPG cylinders recovered from the site were intact.” However, he categorically ruled out any terror angle and denied any similarity with the Bijnor incident.
The explosion occurred at 5:30am at the tea stall of one Manoj Verma. The owner was sleeping outside the shop at the time of incident and escaped unhurt. The injured, identified as Nirhoo (40), was discharged from the hospital after first aid. However, the intensity of the explosion could be gauged from the fact that a nearby house and three shops were damaged and developed cracks. Window panes and plasters of three to four adjacent houses/shops were shattered and damaged.
The SP said that three adjacent shops, including a tea stall and a grocery shop were damaged. Apart from shops, the kitchen of one Vijay Shankar’s house was partially damaged in the blast. “Investigations are underway to ascertain the nature and cause behind the explosion,” said.
Area residents claimed that they had heard a massive sound and ran towards the site to ascertain the reason. The locals spotted that a shop inside the dharamsala was completely damaged and the window panes of a SUV, parked near the shop, was damaged.
