UPDATE: In updated national estimates released Wednesday afternoon by Nielsen, Game 6 of the World Series averaged a 3.5 rating/11 share in adults 18-49 and 13.37 million viewers overall — the best numbers for this year’s San Francisco-Kansas City matchup. The Fall Classic was averaging about 12.4 million viewers heading into tonight’s Game 7, and this year’s series is expected to end up ahead of the 2012 World Series between Texas and San Francisco (12.66 million), which went the minimum four games and is the lowest on record.

On the entertainment side Tuesday, CBS saw good updated results as both “NCIS” (2.6/8 in 18-49, 17.53 million viewers overall) and “Person of Interest” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 9.72 million viewers overall) were revised upward by a tenth. This is the best 18-49 score in three weeks for “NCIS” and the best in four weeks for “Person of Interest,” which ended up tying NBC’s “Chicago Fire” for its most competitive finish of the fall.

At NBC, “The Voice” edged up (2.9/9 in 18-49, 11.35 million viewers overall), but “Marry Me” lost a tenth (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.06 million viewers overall), leaving it down 17% (0.3) week to week. There was no change in the demo scores for “About a Boy” or “Chicago Fire.”

ABC’s programs all held at their preliminary levels, while CW’s “The Flash” was revised up a tenth (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.53 million viewers overall).

Fox’s coverage of Game 6 of the World Series won Tuesday’s ratings race in key demos, but the lopsided nature of the contest freed up viewers to tune elsewhere and that helped male-friendly dramas like CBS’ “NCIS” and “Person of Interest” and ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” post week-to-week gains.

Reliable numbers for the World Series weren’t available Wednesday morning, but the Kansas City Royals’ 10-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants averaged a 3.0 rating/9 share in adults 18-49 and 11.3 million viewers overall on Fox’s stations from 8 to 11 p.m., with these averages expected to rise a bit in the nationals. The deciding Game 7 of the World Series is set for tonight in Kansas City.

Elsewhere, CBS moved ahead of NBC on the night in young adults behind its crime drama trio of “NCIS” (2.5/8 in 18-49, 17.2 million viewers overall), “NCIS: New Orleans” (2.3/6 in 18-49, 15.7 million viewers overall) and “Person of Interest” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall). “NCIS” and “Person of Interest” were both up a tick week to week, with the former again the No. 1 program of the night in total viewers and the latter moving ahead of NBC’s “Chicago Fire” in adults 25-54. “NCIS: New Orleans” was down a tick from last week, when it was able to retain 100% if its 18-49 lead-in for the first time.

In total viewers, CBS won Tuesday opposite the World Series for a second straight week.

At NBC, “The Voice” (2.8/9 in 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall) was down about 15% week to week to its season low, but remained Tuesday’s No. 1 series in adults 18-49. Its declines had a trickle down effect on the rest of the night, with comedies “Marry Me” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) and “About a Boy” (1.2/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) down by double-digits week to week. And closing the night, “Chicago Fire” was at a season low (1.7/6 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall), though it edged out “Person of Interest” in 18-49.

At ABC, the special “The Great Halloween Fright Fight” (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) performed a bit better than the net’s comedy block of last week, and that may have helped “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall), which was up a tenth to match its best score since its season premiere (2.0). “Forever” (1.1/3 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) was about on par with last week.

CW’s “The Flash” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) continued its gradual decline, though it remains easily the network’s No. 1 show in demos. “Supernatural” dipped as well (0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.0 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 3.0/9; CBS, 2.1/6; NBC, 2.0/6; ABC, 1.3/4; CW, 1.1/3.

In total viewers: CBS, 14.2 million; Fox, 11.3 million; NBC, 7.7 million; ABC, 4.4 million; CW, 2.7 million.
