Get ready to take the first flying car out for a spin

Everything predicted in Back to the Future II is about to come true just in time for Oct. 21, 2015—the date that Marty and Doc traveled into the future.

We found out last week that hoverboards are close to being a reality and now there has been a breakthrough in the prototype for flying cars.

The prototype for the most advanced flying car yet was unveiled at the Pioneers festival, a two-day entrepreneurship and digital technology conference in Vienna on Wednesday.

According to the Guardian the AeroMobil 3.0 “looks like something straight out of the Batcave or Q’s secret laboratory.”

The car has been in development for the past 25 years. It already completed its maiden voyage and is about to enter more regular flight testing.

“We believe personal transportation is about to change forever,” AeroMobil chief executive Juraj Vaculik said at a press conference according to Venture Beat. “We think it’s time to make transportation more emotional and more personal.”

The AeroMobil has a 27 foot wingspan and is almost 20n feet long. While the futuristic vehicle doesn’t need to reach 88 miles per hour to launch into the sky, it does require a long runway for liftoff and at least a 50 meter strip to land. In the air the car can reportedly reach speeds of 200 kilometers an hour.
