KUALA LUMPUR: A RM57 million integrated commercial centre to be built in Pudu will also house the 257 traders who will be relocated from Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang.
The six-storey commercial centre is to be constructed by 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the centre would have, among others, shops for quality dry goods, hawker-style food and beverage outlets. It will also have a multi-purpose and banquet hall as well as facilities for sports for the public.
The traders will have a well-organised and healthy business environment, he said after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for the centre in Pudu today.
The existing Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang in Jalan Imbi is making way for the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) development.
He said the relocation of the traders would take place by early 2016 when the construction of the centre is scheduled to be completed and urged the traders to give the project their full cooperation.
