Overview

Tottenham welcome Brighton to White Hart Lane with a place in the last eight of the Capital One Cup at stake. The north London club are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing home loss against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino was furious following the loss and will be keen to set things straight ahead of the Seagulls' visit. The Argentine manager will have the full squad at his disposal apart from long-term absentees Nabil Bentalib and Kyle Walker.

The Spurs manager could make a few changes to the side that lost to the Magpies at the weekend and the likes of Ben Davies, and Benjamin Stambouli might get a run out. Christian Eriksen and the skipper Younes Kaboul are likely to be rested.

Meanwhile, Brighton have been struggling under new manager Sami Hyppia and have failed to find a win in their last five games. They have not won a league game since August and are hovering just above the Championship relegation zone.

Hyppia will be hoping that the League Cup will give his struggling team some respite, but they will come into this game as the under dogs despite Spurs' sketchy form. The Seagulls have not beaten the White Hart Lane outfit in 31 years.

It is better for the opponent to play deep. We need time to adapt in our new set-up and try to understand better our positions on the pitch."

Sami Hyppia: "I don't fear any game. Anything can happen. The score can be anything. We can go there and win, we can go there and lose. It's very important that we concentrate on how we play there and how we present ourselves. We need to have the courage, we don't have to fear them. They have good individuals and they can really hurt you if they are on top of their game but we don't have to fear them."
