Driver’s license test price to drop by 50%

The price for a driver’s license test will drop in the coming days from NIS 500 to NIS 300 – followed by a further reduction to NIS 265 on June 1, 2015 and another to NIS 229 on June 1, 2016 – the Transportation and Finance ministers announced on Wednesday.
“Every girl and boy in Israel who wants to take the test to get a driver’s license should know today that they will pay a lot less,” said Finance Minister Yair Lapid. The decision comes as part of an effort to reduce the cost of living in Israel, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz added.
Lapid and Katz made the decision following the recommendations of an interministerial pricing committee, which aimed to regulate the price of driving test services, the ministries said.
The price reductions are occurring in three stages, in order to allow driving instructors to gradually adjust to the reductions, according to the ministries.
