It is official that the audio of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" will be launched on 9 November at Satyam Cinemas, Chennai.

Latest buzz is that the film's teaser is expected to release ahead of the audio. Speculations are rife that a short teaser might be unveiled on 2 November, while the film's trailer is expected to be released along with the audio. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard.

"Lingaa" is one of the most-anticipated Tamil films of the year, as it has the superstar in dual roles. After playing the lead in "Kochadaiiyaan," an animated 3D film using motion capturing techniques, the superstar is back to doing a complete commercial entertainer under the direction of K.S. Ravi Kumar.

Commercial films are Ravi Kumar's forte and the director has succeeded in coming up with several hit entertainers like "Muthu," "Padayappa," "Villain," "Naatamai," "Avvai Shanmugi" and "Dasavatharam" among others.

This is the third time that the director has teamed up with Rajinikanth after the grand success of "Muthu" and "Padayappa." Fans are eagerly looking forward to the film and they will be expecting nothing short of a blockbuster in Ravikumar-Rajinikanth's association.

"Lingaa" shooting commenced in April and it is all set to be wrapped up soon. The film is in the final leg of its shooting and the team has moved to Macau to shoot the introduction song featuring Rajinikanth.

Once the shooting is completed, post production work will commence. Produced by Rockline Entertainments, the film is gearing up for a grand release on 12 December for Rajinikanth's birthday. For the first time in several years, the superstar has two releases in the same year. While his last release "Kochadaiiyaan" hit the screens in May, "Lingaa" is expected to end the year with a bang.

The Ravi Kumar directorial is all set to clash with Aamir Khan's "P.K.," which is slated for 19 December release. Although "Lingaa," is expected to dominate the screens in south India, the film might face strong competition from "P.K." in northern circuits and overseas markets.

"Lingaa" will have Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha as the female leads. The other cast members include Vijayakumar, Santhanam, Jagapathi Babu, Dev Gill and Karunakaran. Music composer A.R. Rahman has worked on the soundtracks, while the audio rights have been acquired by Eros Now South.
