Mass fasting at Medical College in Kochi on Wednesday

According to the convener of Samyukta Thozhilali Union, Vipin Das K, the employees have decided to take up voluntary work to help underprivileged children that will be a regular monthly activity.

Demanding immediate commencement of construction work for the proposed cancer centre and to make permanent all employees at Government Medical College, Ernakulam, mass fasting and calling attention meeting will be held on the college premises on Wednesday.

The meeting organised by Communist Party of India (Marxist), Kalamassery East Local Committee, will be inaugurated by Sebastian Paul, former MP. Among other things the meeting will also demand that the government make available better treatment for poor patients and provide all specialty and superspecialty medical facilities at the Medical College hospital. Meanwhile, the staff in the medical college on Monday donated about four boxes of garments for children at Jana Seva Sisu Bhavan. The clothes were handed over to Jose Mavely, the director of the organisation.
