AJMER: The district supply office for the first time will provide cooking LPG gas to the devotees coming to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty dargah on the occasion of Moharram at ten rupees per hour. The rush is already on and thousands of devotees are coming here by bus and train and staying at different vishramsthalis.
The dargah region is jam-packed these days and after a long time huge number of devotees are coming to attend this Moharram occasion ain the dargah that has turned into a mini Urs.
Mostly, the devotees are from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. There are also devotees from West Bengal and Southern India.
To facilitate the poor devotees who come to dargah and stay at vishramshalis, the district supply office took a step to provide rationing rated goods to them. "For cooking at vishramsathali, the department is providing goods on control rate as well as the devotees will get the cooking LPG gas for ten rupees per hour to cook their food," said Suresh Sindhi, district supply officer. He said that the department will also run the grocery shop at different vishramsthalis from November 5 where the cooking gas will be available.
Mostly, devotees who stay at vishramsthalis bring their grains and utensils and cook their food themselves after they return from the dargah. According to sources, more than 300 buses reached different vishramsthalis and more than 25,000 devotees arrived in Ajmer on Tuesday to offer prayers in the dargah.
Looking to the heavy number of devotees coming on the occasion of Moharram, the city magistrate Harphool Yadav instructed different departments for the supply of drinking water, electricity and law and order in the dargah region. The district administration has also started a control room at Moti Katla region near dargah for providing help to devotees. Six executive magistrates are deputed for the occasion by the district collector and extra reserve police has been made standby to control any situation.
