Kehkashan Khanam, the lone female candidate among 12 nominees in fray for 10 positions in the students’ council of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), aims to work towards boosting women’s security on campus if she is elected in the students’ union election slated to be held on Wednesday.
“If the VC’s lodge has CCTV cameras, cameras should also be installed at the entrance of women’s halls and lobbies,” said Kehkashan, a research scholar in AMU’s Theology department.
She also promised to raise the issue of lack of hostels for female research scholars, who are forced to rent rooms outside the campus which is unsafe for them.
