The Shaukeens' ‘cute, quirky’ naughtiness to impress the youth

The makers of The Shaukeens knew that getting Annu Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra with the dusky Lisa Haydon and having Akshay Kumar in a special appearance in their naughty comedy would evoke laughter from the audience.
They apparently hosted a screening for youngsters between the ages of 18-22, handpicked from select colleges of Mumbai. Their idea was to get the youth’s perspective and the reactions stumped everyone.The college kids found it to be one of the funniest films they had seen in a while, with girls finding the naughtiness shown in the movie ‘cute, quirky and hilarious.’ The focus group also enjoyed the soundtrack, with Honey Singh’s Alcoholic and Manali Trance being their clear favourites.

Director Abhishek Sharma, who was present at the screening, says, “Everyone has a naughty side, but we all know our limits.
The film portrays just that.” Crediting his actors for their performances, he adds, “Anupam, Annu and Piyush are three of the finest actors we have. They’ve unleashed their naughty side in this film. Lisa has a natural flair for comedy and Akshay is doing something he’s never done before.”
The Shaukeens, produced by Murad Khetani, Cape Of Good Films and Ashwin Varde, releases November 7.
