Government firm on MBBS rural service Bill

In the wake of resignations of over 2,000 doctors, the State government has decided to actively pursue, with the Centre, to obtain the President’s assent to the Karnataka Compulsory Service Training by Candidates Completed Medical Course Bill, 2012, which will make one-year rural service mandatory for those completing MBBS or postgraduate medical courses.

“All problems related to shortage of doctors in government hospitals and primary health centres will be solved if the President gives his assent to the long-pending Bill,” Minister of State for Medical Education Sharanprakash Patil said.
