Dibrugarh: The executive director (designate) of Assam Oil Division (AOD) of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Digboi, who was missing since Sunday afternoon, was rescued from deep inside Upper Dehing Reserve Forest on Monday.
The top executive was rescued by an Army team at 2.45 pm following an intensive search operation launched by the Army, CRPF, CoBRA and police since his disappearance was first reported at 4.30 pm on Sunday.
Bora’s car was later found abandoned near the reserve forest beside the Digboi-Pengeri road. His mobile phone was found switched off leading to speculation that he might have been abducted by dacoits or some militant groups.
DIG (Eastern Range) Satyen Gogoi, who has been coordinating the whole operation, said Bora was not kidnapped but had gone to the forest on his own for reasons unknown. The senior IOC official, of late, was under severe mental stress and has been under the treatment of psychiatrists.
“This was not a case of abduction. He was found in a sound but disturbed condition. We’re trying to find out the reasons why he went there without informing anyone. We’ve come to know that sometimes he disappears suddenly but returns later. He is under medical care now,” said Satyen.
When asked about his disappearance, the senior IOC official denied that he was abducted. It is believed that he passed the night inside the jungle as he had leech bite marks all over his body.
