Ramakrishna Mission has undertaken relief work in various villages across the district after the cyclone Hudhud made its landfall on October 12.

The volunteers of RK Mission along with the monks supplied about 94,000 litres of drinking water among 380 families in Uppada, Bhimli, Jalaripeta, Relli Veedhi, Vasavani Palem, Pedda Waltair and Satgal Nagar.

They also distributed about 1,500 kg of rice, 300 kg of onion, 240 kg of edible oil, 300 packets of rusk, 150 kg of detergent powder and essentials among 300 poor families in Pudimadaka village.

At Gangavaram village, they distributed 1,500 kg of rice, 300 kg of lentils, 300 kg of flour, 150 kg of sugar, 300 litres of edible oil, 600 biscuit packets and 300 bed covers among 300 poor families. Moreover, 20,000 litres of drinking water was also supplied to the villagers.

About 530 families belonging to 16 villages in Madugula mandal were given 3,710 kg of rice, 530 kg of lentils, 265 kg of sugar, 265 kg of salt, 530 litres of edible oil, 1,060 biscuit packets, 530 bars of washing soap, 530 matchboxes and 530 bed covers.
