Four-year-old boy killed by leopard in Una village

A four year-old boy was killed by a leopard on the outskirts of Kondiya village in Una taluka of Gir-Somnath district on Sunday morning.

RAJKOT: A four year-old boy was killed by a leopard on the outskirts of Kondiya village in Una taluka of Gir-Somnath district on Sunday morning.
According to forest officials, the deceased was identified as Kisan alias Lalo, son of farm labourer Kalu Sankhath, a native of Madhya Pradesh.
The leopard attacked and took away the boy at around 6am when he was playing near his hut.
His family members were working in the farm.
Hearing his shrieks, the family members ran behind the leopard. The wild cat left him and escaped into the forest near by. However, the boy had died by then.
The body was sent for post-mortem in Una and forest department officials have placed cages to nab leopard.
Sources said that at least 11 people, mostly tribal children, have been killed by leopards in Junagadh and Amreli district since January 2013.
