GUWAHATI: With the success in Lok Sabha election instilling confidence of spreading out to every corner of the state, BJP has set its sights on strengthening its organizational presence in Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD).
The BTAD comprises four districts, and is a sixth scheduled administered area. Though the accord which paved the way for formation of BTAD was signed in 2003 during the BJP rule under then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the saffron party did not have much presence in BTAD as compared to other parts of the state.

The LS poll success has buoyed the party leaders in the state to make inroads into the BTAD area, by launching a large-scale membership drive. “Support for BJP in BTAD has been increasing over the years. It’s now high time that we fan out in the BTAD areas in a big way. There has also been an increase in memberships over the years, and now we want to gear up a membership drive in these areas,” a leader said.
He added that the BJP was also drawing up strategies to strengthen its organizational base in BTAD as the saffron party felt that the areas have much potential for the growth of the party. “Today BJP is a well accepted party in the state as the Lok Sabha polls result demonstrated. So, we do not want to leave out any part of our state where BJP is yet to make its presence,” the leader added.
