Was I sceptical? Very. But also open to trying out the treatment to see if it lived up to its claims.

Before I began the treatment, the lovely beauty therapist Neelu White talked me through the machine and how it worked, as well as recording my measurements to see if I saw any changes.

The Ion Mangum is a machine which can perform muscle-toning workouts using waveforms. Neelu carefully hooked up pads to various parts of my body to target specific muscle groups.

She then began the treatment - which felt like my muscles were being jolted. It's not an unpleasant or painful sensation, just a bit odd. Neelu adjusted the strength of the machine to suit, and gradually increased the power as I grew accustomed to the feeling.

The initial part of the treatment works at a deep level, targeting visceral fat and toning your muscles. Then during the next stage the feeling changes and feels more like a rolling, massaging sensation which works to tighten the skin.

After 40 minutes of using the Ion Magnum, Neelu remeasured my waist, legs and hips. I lost an inch off all areas, and generally felt tighter and more toned.

It's a similar feeling to having completed a particularly strenuous gym workout, my muscles felt taut and slightly sore, but I wasn't in any pain.

I was really surprised by how well this worked - you can target hard to reach muscles such as the lower abs and inner thigh which are very difficult to tone through normal exercise alone.

It’s hard to believe that you can lose inches while just lying there, but the Ion Magnum doesn't disappoint! Each treatment costs €175 per 40 minute session, while a course of 10 sessions costs €1500.
